All throughout the 1970s, giant billboards and magazine advertisements routinely encouraged women to start smoking by showing them that it was the "liberated" thing to do!!! The theme of all the messages was: YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY BABY!!! In other words, leave that hard "woman's work" behind you because you're a "modern", "Feminist" woman now, baby. Ironically, the term "baby" was sexist in itself!!!
